FITZROY RIVER LODGE
Fitzroy Crossing, Western Australia
SOME THINGS OF INTEREST
The Fitzroy River was discovered in 1873 by George Grey in the HMS Beagle, and named after the former commander of the ship - Captain
Robert Fitzroy R.N. The river rises in the King Leopold and Mueller Rangers, and flows through rugged hills and plains for over 750km before
discharging into King Sound, south of Derby.
It has a catchment area of 90,000 square kilometres, of which half is above Fitzroy Crossing. In the wet season it can rise 13 metres above the
old concrete river crossing, and has an estimated flow of 30,000 cubic metres per second. The only means of access to the Inn during these
times is by boat.
With facilities suitable for either a short or long-term stay, the Fitzroy River Lodge is the ideal place to just lay back, relax, and enjoy our
hospitality, or fill your days with innumerable exciting adventures.
Whilst a lot can be said for lazing by the pool and enjoying the quiet life in our natural bush setting, there is always plenty available for you to do.
The Fitzroy River Lodge lounge bar has a stage setting, and often hosts entertainment. Please feel free to check out the upcoming events
(including our Gig Guide) to see what's planned, or contact us for the plan.
